Cinema Blend are reporting that Danny Boyle’s next movie Sunshine which we have talked about quite a bit over the last few weeks, now has a release date of FALL 2007 as opposed to March 16th!
Their sources are both Coming Soon and Box Office Mojo… and the whole thing seems to make sense as at the end of the latest trailer, the release date was conspicously absent.
That is of courseĀ unless you live in Old Blighty.
FilmRot are telling us that the move will still be released on the 5th April here in the U.K.
So originally we were suppose to get the movie 3 weeks later than the U.S. and now we are getting it months and months sooner!
No word yet on why it has been pushed back to the fall, but it could simply be that they think the movie is more marketable near the end of the year. It can’t possibly be because they are changing anything to the film as it’s still coming out over here.

Nope, the film isn’t going to be re-edited or anything like that. Your first guess is correct. There are so many ’spectacle’ films coming out in the spring/summer that Searchlight are worried that an intelligent film like ‘Sunshine’ will get lost in the mix.
yeah, Sunshine was meant to be shown at the Dublin Film Festival recently, but it got pulled from the schedule, and replaced with ‘The Fountain’… not a bad replacement…
Actually, Fox delayed the Irish release of ‘The Fountain’ recently too, it’s still not out here. :(
Apparently, they thought the Irish market was a little saturated with Oscar nominated movies, so the Fountain was held back, and stuff like ‘Epic Movie’ and ‘Norbit’ gets released into Irish cinemas instead. Hmmm..
Thanks Gia for the confirmation
Wow, The Fountain still hasn’t been released over there PaddyC?
Jeez, I didn’t know that. You guys have been waiting forever for that thing.
