Daniel Craig, who as I’ve mentioned would have made an awesome Captain America if it wasn’t for the fact he was English… has told IESB that Marvel have already approached him in regards to leading one of their upcoming tentpoles.
The James Bond actor tells the site Marvel asked him to play THOR but he had to turn them down because he didn’t think he could fulfill two rigorous franchises.
Craig said yes they [Marvel] did approach him but he turned it down. He added jokingly, it would have been too much of a power trip, both Bond and Thor, and running around with long hair and a hammer.
And of course he’s right… the scheduling would never work out… Marvel and Columbia would want him back time and time again for their projects.
No word on whether this offer came in the Matthew Vaughn era of the project’s development or more recently with Kenneth Branagh.

What a shame, he’d have been great in the role and I hate Bond anyway.
um…they need to renegotiate. harder.
Daniel Craig is (and pardon the pun) slightly weathered-looking to play an eternally youthful and hewn-by-the-heavens specimen as is Thor. Thor should physically tower over Captain America and Tony Stark, and I have the impression Craig is built somewhat low to the ground. Thor should be cast from an open audition process, because the ultimate (no pun intended, I swear) actor to play the part is someone we’ve never seen before.
Well, now we know Marvel’s interested in star power. I do think he looks too old too.
yeah. i triple the motion on the obvious aged look of Craig.
his Casino Royale performance was good, though.
