Dan Ackroyd, usually the figurehead voice for the Ghost Busters team loves the much talked about rumblings of what a Judd Apatow directed Ghost Busters 3 would look like with Seth Rogen and his usual crew (presumably Rudd, Carell etc) starring.
And who knows, if Ackroyd is talking about it (and he would know, mentioning a script being written right now) maybe it’s more than just rumblings…
Well, y’know, two sharp young writers are purported to be writing the sequel, the third movie now. If I could interest Seth [Rogen] and Judd [Apatow] to be part of it, that would be an absolute dream.
I’ve said it time and time again. Ghost Busters is a staple of mine and many of my generation’s childhood, two (ok for some just one) precious films that we don’t particularly want to see revisited. HOWEVER, revisited they will most certainly be, just like Back to the Future will be sooner rather than later.
The question is as to whether it will be a Stallone/Willis/Ford style return for the original cast or whether it will be new blood… or somewhere in the middle where it’s a passing of the torch movie is where the big mystery lies.
Now, because Ghost Busters will return in some form in the future… I would be more than happy to see Apatow and Rogen’s take. They are at a similar position in popularity as Bill Murray/Dan Ackroyd/Harold Ramis in the mid 80’s and their laidback, visceral style of acting would suit the franchise.
And ya know, it will make an absolute fortune. Ghost Busters has a massive following. Play that theme song, walk the streets and see the logo shirts still being bought, the dvd’s flying off the shelves, the new video game that looks mega exciting.
I have no doubt it would be one of the biggest money earners of whatever particular year it is released.
If it’s gonna happen, it might as well be with these guys. Right?

sounds good
Ummmm, the videogame got scrapped just recently. Too bad
As long as Seth Rogen doesn’t have a beard I might be ok with it. And as long as some of the original cast is in there in some capacity. But on the beard thing it’s just something about seeing Ghostbusters with beards that just makes me cringe. I’ve seen people do it fanfilms (which some make me cringe as it is) but a beard with that jumpsuit… doesn’t look right.
If this doesn’t take off maybe I’ll have more time to try to find an agent to pass around my story. :) doubtful, but maybe…
[...] this week Ackroyd had mentioned his desire to get Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen and their gang involved in the picture in so…, something many fanboys have anticipated happening for about a year now. Could this new movie act [...]
