Crewing up the Justice League

Posted by Will Reynolds

Here’s an interesting tester for you. Do you consider yourself a film geek? I mean REALLY a film geek? If this news sparks even the slightest interest in you then you’re clearly a complete nerdlinger. I’m definitely one, because when this piece of info came my way and I didn’t even need to look it up – I knew who this guy was already!

Enough from me, on with the details: George Miller has brought Owen Paterson onboard as Production Designer on Justice League. Paterson recently finished work on The Wachowski’s Speed Racer in Berlin and is now working in Sydney on Justice League.

He also PD’d on the Matrix trilogy and V For Vendetta. Intriguingly, Paterson worked extensively on the aborted McG/JJ Abrams Superman project so he’s already had a brush with DC superheroes.

Though I love the work of Anton Furst – and to a lesser extent Nathan Crowley – on Batman, and John Barry’s elegant design on the original Superman, I’m hoping Paterson ignores all of that and puts his own visual stamp on this film… the Fortress of Solitude doesn’t always have to be made from crystals, y’know!

We’ll keep you posted on any further crew additions that come our way.
