cover_couriers.jpgAfter they have bled dry such classic graphic novels like 300, V for Vendetta, Sin City and Watchmen, movie studio’s are having to look at more obscure graphic novels and comic book series for their movie ideas.

The low budget action/horror studio Rogue Pictures are to team with Intrepid Pictures to bring the graphic novel series Couriers to the big screen.

More info from Coming Soon

Written by Brian Wood and illustrated by Rob G, the series follows the adventures of two gun-toting mercenary couriers named Moustafa and Special who take on jobs other couriers do not, such as intelligence, large cash transfers, protection, assassinations and blockade-running.

Can’t say I’ve ever heard of the series but apparently it’s fairly new and has only received three trades so far.

The reason comic series are so popular for adaptations is not only because they are great stories but also because they are perfect reference tools for a director. In every way, it’s better than a movie script as you have it visually panel for panel all mapped out.

I’m still hoping Alan Moore’s The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen will be given another chance and made by talent that know what they are doing, but for the time being at least that is very unlikely.
