200px-Peabody_sherman.jpgThe classic animated duo Mr. Peabody & Sherman are to be given the CGI treatment for a major motion picture with Rob Minkoff on board to direct. Minkoff is the guy responsible for the timeless classic The Lion King along with the two Stuart Little movies and The Haunted Mansion.

More info from Coming Soon

“The bespectacled dog Mr. Peabody and his adopted pet boy Sherman were introduced in 1959 in a series of short segments as part of “The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.” Together, they had more than 90 adventures, jumping into Peabody’s “WABAC Machine” to travel back in time”.

I’m getting slightly sick of the amount of animated movies around at the moment but this is one i’m happy to see get made. I’ve seen a couple of the classic segments in my media class and they still really hold up to today. Some of the classics involved historical figures such as William Shakespeare, Robin Hood and Jules Verne.

Hopefully Minkoff can respect the original material but at the same  update it for the 21st century with computer animation.
