In the continuing swings and roundabouts of animation film-making, Dreamworks have hired Chris Sanders to direct the animated caveman comedy Crood Awakenings.
The feature was originally set up to be worked in conjunction with Aardman Studio’s but after their partnership recently ended, Dreamworks had to find a replacement.
Sanders, a 20 year Disney veteran who directed Lilo & Stitch for the “Mouse” recently left the company after he suffered creative differences of his own with John Lassetter over his film American Dog… which is still going ahead under Chris Williams’ wing.
Sanders told Variety what interested him with the project…
“The idea of having all the modern conveniences and social structures that we’re familiar with gone and being left with just a pure form of people was really fun to imagine working with,”
It might just be a very long time until we see this film turn up in our cinema’s though guys. It’s said it may be four years before it is finished!
