Butler now confirmed to have held talks for Watchmen!

We have a little more on yesterday’s story of Gerard Butler being lined up for a role in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen adaptation.
Zack Snyder said this of the Internet rumours that he talked to Butler about the role, from About.com through Filmstalker….
“” talked to him on the plane and he said, ‘Are we going to talk about this?’ I said, ‘Yes, eventually we should.’…I have a particular part for him in the movie but I haven’t told him even yet what it is…”
On the news that Tom Cruise was once set for a role…
“I don’t think Tom’s going to do it. I wanted him to, but I don’t think he’s going to. I think he’s busy on something else…. He’s awesome. Tom and I talked about the movie and he was so cool that hopefully there’s something else for him to do somewhere. Maybe not this movie…maybe another one.”
The site site also talked to Gerard Butler, who said this of any involvment in Watchmen…
“You know, Zack’s mentioned it but we haven’t talked about it anymore. So I don’t know. I haven’t read a script; I don’t know what the role is. I’d love to work with Zack again. I think he’s awesome, but more than that I can’t say.”
At least things are a little more clearer now then. Butler in Watchmen sounds good on paper, but the more I think about it, the more I’m not so sure. I just can’t see what role he could fill?

I’m not sure how filmstalker got included as the source for this. Those quotes are from one-on-ones with Gerard Butler and Zack Snyder and don’t have anything to do with filmstalker…

Yeah I didn’t make things fully clear did I? It’s my usual trying to do everything at 100mphs thing again.
I always quote where I found the story from, which was Filmstalker.
Usually I give credit to where the interview took place but like I said by doing things so fast, I missed it off. As you can see I left a link to your site on the source credits, so I didn’t leave you off completely.
I’m amending the situation as we speak.
Thanks for changing that. I did those interviews at the 300 premiere and I know filmstalker wasn’t standing next to me ;) Anyway, thanks for clearing that up - definitely appreciated.
