Bryan Singer on futuristic TOP GUN project

Bryan Singer has optioned another comic book series to adapt for film. His company Bad Hat Harry Productions has teamed with Radical Pictures to adapt the five issue comic book series Freedom Formula for the big screen, which is described as a futuristic “Top Gun“.

In this world racing exo-suits have replaced fighter jets, with the story focusing on a genetically engineered racer who learns that his bloodline has the power to change society. It’s described as a character driven flick with awesome set pieces.

It’s the second big deal in a week for Singer, who will only produce this material. He also optioned the upcoming comic book series Capeshooters on Wednesday.

Talking to Variety

“This is a timeless story about young people struggling to break free of authority. That’s what ultimately appealed to me,” Singer said.

  1. Ah, but will it be a “timeless stpory about young people struggling to break free of authority” or will it be a brain-free tech-heavy salute to the military industrial complex?

    We don’t need for Transformers-style special effects overkill thank you, but ifr Singer can make a complex story examining issues around humans and machines then he ma have something good. “Futuristic Top Gun” does not inspire confidence though…
