Wow, I didn’t know anything about this project before today but it sounds like it’s pretty far down the line.
Nick Hornby, one of my absolute favourite authors whose genius comedy works HIGH FIDELITY, ABOUT A BOY and FEVER PITCH have all been turned into cool movies, has his first “made for film” tale ready to shoot next month in London.
The project is set in the 1960’s and is a coming of age tale about a witty and attractive 17-year-old, whisked off her feet by an unsuitable thirtysomething guy, who dazzles her with the high life. Carey Mulligan, the up and coming actress from PRIDE AND PREJUDICE will lead as the 17 year old, whilst Peter Sarsgaard will play the older guy.
Also in the movie are British theps Orlando Bloom, Rosamund Pike, Alfred Molina, Emma Thompson, Sally Hawkins and Olivia Williams.
Movie is produced by Endgame Entertainment and BBC Films, and it will be directed by Danish helmer Lone Scherfig who will be making her English language film debut.
