Alex Winter, the writer/actor who played the less famous title character in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and it’s sequel has been hired to scribe a remake of Rock ‘N’ Roll High School, the original 1979 musical film from Roger Corman.

Howard Stern and Larry Levinson are producing say Variety.

The original film was about a group of rebellious students who put an end to a repressed and non music loving principal – with a little help from The Ramones.

Recently Winter has moved further and further into writing and directing, with a feature about Napster and its creator upcoming for MTV Films and behind the camera he is set to shoot a comedy with Alan Rickman titled We’re Here to Help.

“I’ve now done so much stuff in musicvideos, and the Napster movie, that the chance to bridge music and comedy was something that intrigued me,” Winter said. “This movie seemed so ripe for a remake.”
