Thanks to OWF reader MadWelshBoy who sent us this link over the weekend to Beyonce Knowles’ “cast me, cast me” plea to Warner Bros. for their WONDER WOMAN movie which is a story that has now hit the rest of the web with several dozen outlets adding their two cents to the mix.
She told the L.A. Times that she isn’t just putting her name out for the role on the web, she has actively sought out the part and even met with Warner Bros. executives telling them she is the perfect choice.
“I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It’s time for that, right?” said Beyonce. “After doing these roles that were so emotional I was thinking to myself, ‘OK, I need to be a superhero’. Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there’s also an action element that I would enjoy.”
Problem with Beyonce is not the colour of her skin (although I would prefer to have a dark haired, white Wonder Woman as that is the character in the comics and her imagery is a firm part of popular culture) but the fact that there is nothing about her CV or acting style that screams WONDER WOMAN.
Some further WONDER WOMAN news hit the web over the weekend when IESB heard the rumor that McG, who after landing the new TERMINATOR movie at WB and impressing them with his early dailies is becoming very
powerful at the studio and is seriously being considered for this project.
McG previously helmed the feminine action franchise CHARLIE’S ANGELS and at one time became very close to directing a Superman movie at the same studio.
He is firmly not my first choice and I have to say, a McG directed WONDER WOMAN starring Beyonce sounds like a disaster waiting to happen but WB seem confident about TERMINATOR SALVATION. Maybe he is starting to show promise?

I think the Wonder Woman TV series gave us all we need from Wonder Woman. Bullet reflecting braclets and a rope wont impress on the big screen. The outfit might but thats all Wonder Woman has to offer. Note to Beyonce, You have enough mony to get someone to write an orginal Superhero story for you and then take a few million and get it filmed. Use a lot of green screens it will keep your cost down. Just dont use the writers of Hancock or they put a stupid twist in and ruin your movie. Heres the formula,Something happens to you and gives you power, something in your life teaches you to use your power for the good of mankind and something threatens mankind and you save us! P.S. Put a hot song on the credits so we leave with a smile and a bounce in our step.
Is she serious? She can’t be Wonder Woman, that would be ridiculous. I’m kind of skeptical about that movie as it is and having her attempt to act in it would just cause me to lose faith in the project all together.
Jesus! She was just throwing the idea out. It’s not like anyone is actually going to do it. She obviously likes Wonder Woman and could see herself playing the part. She’d give about as good a performance as Megan Fox or Scarlett Johannsen.
Let’s calm down.
Amazing how some folks just NEED to go ballistic over something. Grow up folks.
JaySmack:
Who’s Going ballistic?
Who needs to grow up??
“It’s not like anyone is going to do it.”
How do you know what Warner Bros will do?
Maybe you should try and read what is written out loud in a calm tone so you don’t get confused.
Funny it sounds like you agree its a bad idea and yet you jump into attack someone , but wont say who. How about this you grow up, and leave the Lord out of it.
Hell Know, When I think about Wonder Woman I think of Linda Carter. I think the one they chose for Justice League is the perfect fit. Beyonce is power tripping here. Don’t her and her and her secret Husband have enough fucking money already. Doesn’t Marvel have a black Herorine the that she could be? I’m not implying a Black woman can’t be Wonder Woman, just not Beyonce. However, If they casted Rhianna I’d definately bite:)
