Bale is John Connor?

How’s this for a tasty rumour? According to AICN the McG directed TERMINATOR reboot, going by the clunking great title TERMINATOR SALVATION: THE FUTURE BEGINS, has snagged a mighty impressive leading man.

The previous two movies in the series had Edward Furlong and Nick Stahl in the role of John Connor, the leader of the human resistance against Skynet. Now, according to Harry Knowles, the franchise has none other than Christian Bale as Connor!

If true it’s a huge coup for McG and Warner Bros, and probably a smart move for Bale, too. The BATMAN franchise has allowed him to take on lower-budgeted, higher-risk projects such as RESCUE DAWN and 3:10 TO YUMA.

This is definitely an odd one, Bale is a Geek God while McG is nerd kryptonite. Will they cancel each other out and make something startlingly mediocre or will this be a killer post-apocalyptic sci-fi actioner? I think McG is capable of more than he’s shown so far but if he wants to be taken more seriously he can start by using his real bloody name.

With the WGA beginning negotiations to end the strike next week, the studio may wait until any outcome of those talks before announcing this casting.

Odd but not completely off-the-wall. I never thought I’d see him as batman either.

I don’t know, I’m still hesitant to buy this at face value but if nothing else, it suggests that maybe this project isn’t as hopeless as I once thought!

Holy crap didn’t see this one coming at all.

If there’s one thing about Bale… he isn’t one for not taking risks and he’s one of the hardest actors to pin down to a certain type of role.

For every summer blockbuster, there’s an indie flick, a biopic, an action movie or a western.

If this is true, then maybe he’s just thought ‘what the hell?’, I’m not working between now and June… why not give this one a try.

Will John Connor be the main focal point of the movie now and not the new Terminator?

Still, I’m only 10% thinking this is accurate info.

If true, this flick is gonna be real fascinating.

Bale is a fair sight better than Stahl –God, he was lousy! So if this is true at least McG is trying to get the casting right.

Now, if only he can go the right direction with whomever the Terminator will be. I wouldn’t put it past whomever helms the next Terminator flick (which I’m willing to bet will have been shortened to Terminator:Salvation in six months) to use a CGI Arnold, especially given how Zemeckis and Cameron are using it to death.

Worst career move by Bale since Newsies. Too bad, he was on one hell of a streak in selecting interesting and solid films.

Well, it can’t last forever, just ask Tom Hanks.

This film will blow chunks! I recentaly caught one of those Charlies Angels films on TV and it was Appaling and I think Bale is the only bad thing about the “Nolen” Batman Franchise, He never was a very good actor.
And as for McG, It’s no wonder he goes by that name, have you seen his real one!?..Imagine how much worse Superman Would have been if he had done it.
Sorry Matt But I think this is gonna be another Hack job!
I wish they would just let Sleeping franchises lie.

I agree with Glove. Bale’s “Batman voice” is laugh-out-loud TERRIBLE. And while he’s not “bad” neccessarily, I still don’t get that “Bruce Wayne” vibe from him and the Batman vibe ain’t really there either. Sorry, but solid an actor as he is he doesn’t feel right.
They could have found someone more fitting for the part. Though John Connor would be more his speed.
