Film.ru carry the first image of Jim Carrey as the miserable Ebenezer Scrooge from A CHRISTMAS CAROL, the motion captured 3-D animated movie from Robert Zemeckis which opens November 6th 2009.
Disney expect the Charles Dickens source material to be so popular that it will be able to play the movie throughout Christmas and are wanting to create a classic, a Victorian Era adaptation that is a faithful to the book as possible.
Remember Carrey plays multiple roles, ala Tom Hanks in Zemeckis’ THE POLAR EXPRESS, as he plays Scrooge and the three ghosts of Christmas (Past, Present and Future). Something which I’m pretty certain has never been attempted before.
Gary Oldman (as Bob Cratchit, Marley, Tiny Tim), Colin Firth (Fred), Robin Wright Penn (?) and Bob Hoskins (Mr. Fezziwig) make up the core cast.
