BABYLON A.D. director hates his own film!

French helmer Mathieu Kassovitz’s big Hollywood action movie Babylon A.D. starring Vin Diesel opens on Friday but all has not been well for the 20th Century Fox production.

After talk of studio cuts as far back as April, a hideous trailer and a slew of scathing reviews (0% on Rotten Tomatoes as of right now) have turned up online but the real kicker and the one that should be the final nail in the movie’s coffin is that the flick’s director hates his own movie.

Kassovitz is disowning it. In an incredible interview with AMCtv.com, he said “I’m very unhappy with the film,” and that the movie was “pure violence and stupidity,” with parts resembling “a bad episode of ‘24.’”

Yup, that should go on the poster!

He goes on to say…

“I never had a chance to do one scene the way it was written or the way I wanted it to be. The script wasn’t respected. Bad producers, bad partners, it was a terrible experience.”

Though there is said to be two sides to this story. During the film’s production there was several reports of Kassovitz being a bit of an egomanical asshole on set and that the studio are incredibly pissed the helmer failed to fulfill his press commitments for the movie, deciding instead to hide away on his Caribbean Island.

Kassovitz who helmed Gothkia and La Haine also had to delay production on the film by three weeks for personal reasons, something Fox are said to be unhappy with.

The movie which was originally set to be R-Rated, has been cut severely to hit a PG-13 rating and will open on Friday, a cut which is apparently different to the one which has had scathing reviews.
