The awful looking remake of the horror classic Black Christmas has given Joe Harris the idea to remake one of his own. The 1984 horror movie Silent Night, Deadly Night which was released during the “boom” of the slasher genre will be the source material for his remake if green lit.
Harris who has wrote the script for the film has said that the movie “will not be a remake of the original picture, but a total reimagining using the basic concept as a platform for a new franchise…
Extreme attention has been placed on putting together a top-notch, terrifying screenplay as most films in this sub-genre have little to no story and very weak scares. The intent is to create a dark and scary film that falls more in line (in terms of tone) with modern released such as “Saw” and “The Descent.””
I admire what the guy is trying to do and he talks a lot of sense but again it’s another god damn remake. That’s the biggest problem of the genre at the moment, which he conveniantly seems to have brushed under the carpet with his statement of intent.
The original movie followed a slasher killer who was dressed as Santa Claus and murdered his victims with an axe. The movie was actually extremely controversial at the time, with many attempts from the PTA to have it banned from cinema’s.
If all goes to plan for Harris then I would expect the movie to be in theatres by next Christmas.
Did anyone go and see Black Christmas this Holiday season? Was it as bad as it looked?

I have very little interest in these ’slasher’ sort of movies at the best of times, and pretty much none at all at christmas.
SLASHER FILMS ARE NOT SCARY!! I wish they would get that through their thick fucking craniums!!
Didn’t see Black Christmas but have a strange curiosity for it.
Did see Silent Night Deadly Night when it first came out and it completely escapes me and good movies that are worth remembering usually don’t have that effect on me.
Not sure why it needs to be remade.
