The Sandra Bullock/Ryan Reynolds comedy THE PROPOSAL has found a director. Anne Fletcher, the helmer of this weekend’s chick flick 27 DRESSES will direct the feature as her next film, with a Spring start date set in stone.

The script written by Peter Chiarelli (Off the Record) concerns a demanding female boss (Bullock) faced with deportation to Canada who agrees to a sham engagement and marriage with her young male assistant (Reynolds).

It all sounds very dull and the choice of director extremely predictable.

Reynolds is better than this and Bullock should have ditched these movies years ago. Anyone who has seen her work in the Truman Capote drama INFAMOUS will know that in this period of her career, she’s by far the most interesting outside of her usual niche.
