If you have never heard of Castlebright Productions then don’t panic, I only barely recognized the studio’s name. They are the team behind the currently in development Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars movie based on the ‘National Treasure meets Da Vinci Code‘ video game.
That’s a pretty cool project, if maybe three years too late. And maybe the same can be said here.
Coming Soon report that the studio have paid big bucks for the Andrew Kaplan set of spy novels which were popular entertainment fodder for readers in the 80’s and 90’s but have since become forgotten about and are now actually out of print. The novels which are titled Scorpion, Dragon Fire and Hour of the Assassins are said to be similar to that of the Bourne series, with surprise twists and stunning action.
Although details are a little sketchy, Coming Soon seem to hint that Hour of the Assassins will be the first book adapted, with a stylistic make over similar to that of Sin City, in that the material exists in a skewed reality which isn’t quite real. The story will tell of a sympathetic assassin who becomes a wanted man when when the world’s most powerful regimes allow their top killers one fully synchronized hour to settle any scores they may have.
Looks like they all want our lead character dead, and the movie promises to be as frantic and fast paced as they come.
Sounds pretty cool and good old fashioned spy/hitman movies are not something we privileged to a lot of these days. At least not good one’s anyway, with The Bourne Ultimatum of course being the huge exception to that rule but there’s surely more room for more movies right - as long as it’s not a carbon copy.
