Al Pacino will be re-teaming with S1m0ne director Andrew Niccol for Dali & I: The Surreal Story, a film based on the life of the surrealist painter Salvador Dali.
There is very little to go on with this story from Variety, but the IMDB entry for the film states that it will cover the latter years of the artist’s life (1960-1980’s) which makes sense with the casting of 66 year old Al Pacino. The movie is titled & I, as apparently the book covers the relationship between Dali and a young arts dealer.
Al’s going through some kind of renaissance with his career at the moment. He will soon be seen in the “real time” thriller 88 minutes, before playing the new bad guy in Ocean’s Thirteen.
How about we add a little art culture to Obsessed with Film?. Below is Dali’s most famous work, “The Persistence of Memory” from 1931…
