Adam Beach to star in live action TUROK movie

Turok, best known to me for the long running video game series about a dinosaur hunter which I became quite fond of during my N64 days actually and proved to be quite influential in the first person shooter genre, is to be made into a live action feature film.

It would appear the video game that I loved was actually based on a comic book series that began in the mid 50’s.

Adam Beach (Flags of our Fathers, Windtalkers), the voice of the character from the more recent game adaptations and the upcoming animated movie will star…

Beach spoke to MTV

“We just finished the animated movie and now we’re going into the feature film movie [which should lens] hopefully in a couple years. We’re about to set up meetings to develop a script and put it out there,” Beach enthused. “I’ll have to beef up, and be a good guy, and save the world!”

“He’s the first Native American superhero that I ever looked up to,” he said. “He basically [comes from] a family where they’re protecting our universe from an alternate universe that wants to take it over. He uses his wits, and his might, and his special bow and arrow to take over the world.”

Here is the trailer for the recent animated feature which you can get for $14.99 here.

A Rambo meets Jurassic Park style movie?

Love the sound of this. This is why I’m far more in favour of video game adaptations than I am remakes. There’s unlimited potential here with what they could do with this project and cinematically at least, it will be fresh, innovative and interesting. Original tentpoles are something we are crying out for right now and this one will be very welcome by me.

From the sounds of Beach’s quotes though, it’s gonna take a while.
