Adam Arkin joins Coen’s A SERIOUS MAN

Matt here, T.V. regular Adam Arkin has joined A Serious Man, the currently filming in Minnesota black comedy from the Coen Brothers whose Burn After Reading is released in the U.S. today.

NBC All Star Party

The Coen’s original film follows a Midwestern professor (Mark Sthulbarg) who watches his life unravel when his wife vows to leave him because his inept brother (Richard Kind) won’t move out of the house.

Yes, it’s the Coens going with recognisable t.v. actors instead of the usual A-list type stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones etc.

As always, the Coens are impossible to predict!

Discuss: A low profile Coen Brothers movie with C-list actors, does it interest you? Does a comedy like Burn After Reading interest you or are you disappointed they didn’t follow up No Country For Old Men with a similar sized epic?

I actually think, as a bit of a change, a less starry affair from the Coens is a good thing. The Coens are too talented to keep doing the same thing over and over and I like their diversity – though of course it would be cool if a Coen regular (Frances McDormand, John Turturro, Steve Buscemi, John Goodman, etc.) popped up for a cameo appearance…

I don’t think it’s always necessary to have A-listers to pull in an audience. I must admit I do like to see a couple of reasonably well-known names, as I tend to associate certain people with quality work. Also, as I’ve recently created a new website for Adam Arkin, http://www.celebritywebsites.talktalk.net/Adam.Arkin I’m obviously anxious to see any and all Adam’s work. I’m looking forward to this new movie next year.
