Confession time. I’ve never seen an episode of The Soprano’s. SHOCK, HORROR!
Maybe it’s with me living in the U.K. it’s always put on very late or it’s not advertised that much but I’ve never really been all that bothered for seeing it. I’m sure it’s superb stuff and who knows maybe one day I will feel the urge to buy the first season box set.
Why am I talking about The Soprano’s? Well The Hollywood Reporter are carrying the news of Michael Imperioli’s casting in The Lovely Bones. Apparently this guy was in The Soprano’s but like I say I haven’t seen it so I don’t know much about this guy.
The offed “Sopranos” actor joins Rachel Weisz, Ryan Gosling, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci and newcomer Saoirse Ronan in the big-screen version of Alice Sebold’s best-seller. The story centers on a young girl who is murdered but continues to observe her family on Earth after her death. She witnesses the impact of her demise on her loved ones, while her killer skillfully covers his tracks and prepares to murder again.
Imperioli will play Len Fenerman, the detective in charge of investigating the girl’s death.
I don’t think I need to remind you that Peter Jackson is helming the flick with an October start date planned. A superb cast he has lined up and once again it’s a complete new set of blood for Jackson who always likes to work with completely new people on each project. This should be good.

I’m with you Matt, all I’ve seen of The Sopranos is the first two episodes of the 1st series. They’re both excellent and I’ve got the 1st season boxset but am never motivated to sit down and watch it.
That cast is promising though, and Imperioli will no doubt make for an interesting lead. The cast is strong and Peter Jackson is very capable. Signs indicate that this should be a very good movie.
Imperioli is very good. And the Sopranos was a good show, well seasons 1-3 were good, the fourth season sucked, haven’t seen the last one.
There was an interview with him not that long ago (a few months) I watched where he was talking about hopefully directing a flick in the near future. He seems to have the passion for it and he was a solid character in The Sopranos.
As for The Sopranos, season 1 is solid. Season 2 goes a little downhill… haven’t been able to watch s3, yet, even though it’s been in my collection for well over a year.
****** This topic REALLY needs SPOILER tags on it. For the people that haven’t followed through all six seasons, we don’t know what happens to him as a character. *********
