We shouldn’t be shocked by all these comic book movies in development, even if they are B-List characters that we have never heard of. As long as these flicks keep making money (remember FF2 made $254 million worldwide and that was dumb as hell) then studio’s will keep making these comic book flicks… meaning they have to dig a little deeper for new characters as the A-List ones are all used up right now.

Which brings me to this news about a Doctor Strange movie. He’s hardly a character I’m familiar with at all. First up he’s the scoop from IESB found via The Movie Blog…

The full length animated feature of Doctor Strange was officially released by Marvel today and the IESB is able to exclusively reveal that a live action Doctor Strange is currently in development. Marvel has started taking the property around town and pitching it to potential directors. While we can’t confirm if a script has been completed or even commissioned, it’s rumored to be written by an unnamed writer.

According to Wikipedia, Strange is a master of the mystic arts and that he uses his abilities to battle evil magicians and other supernatural villains. Doesn’t sound all that easy to adapt into a movie does he?

Remember this is hardly official and it could well be that they are just testing the waters right now and mildly talking about doing a movie. To be honest, I could think of a million other characters from the Marvel universe I would rather see on screen ahead of Strange but like I said…they will get round to them eventually.
