A Good Year – Critics Review

1160834.jpgA Good Year opens in the U.S. this weekend and it see’s Gladiator duo Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott re-unite in what is a lighthearted comedy. Some say this movie has only been made to try and show Crowe in a better public light after his recent misdemeanors…. but you didn’t hear that from me.

Here are the critics reviews…

“It’s ultimately a so-so movie that does little more than answer what should’ve been an ironic question: What would happen if Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe made a romantic comedy?” - Cole Haddon – Orlando Weekly

“A simple repast consisting of sometimes strained slapsticky comedy, a sweet romance and a life lesson learned”. – Todd McCarthy – Variety

“Russell Crowe may find himself discovering the simple joys of life in A Good Year, but audiences will be checking their watches during this joyless attempt at comedy”. - Claudia Puig – USA Today

“It’s corny and predictable and delightfully simplistic in its goal: to provide a couple of hours of fun. Mission accomplished”. - Jeff Strickler – Minneapolis Star Tribune

“Like spending two hours with someonewho is tiresome but who thinks you should find him exceedingly charming”. – Eric D. Snider – Ericdsnider.com

The movie is currently scoring a very poor 29% rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the worst of the legendary director’s career. His next last… his last movie Kingdom of Heaven, which scored 35% (terrible movie by the way). The guy’s only going one direction at the moment, and it’s not a good one. Why on earth did he shoot this comedy?????
