It’s probably not at all newsworthy but Hollyoaks is a pretty popular soap here in the U.K, so this might interest them. And of course it’s to do with Batman, so I should certainly mention this little story found over at This is Nottingham, via AICN.
They claim that 26 year old British Actress Sarah Dunn who was Mandy in Hollyoaks for over ten years, has been cast in next summer’s blockbuster movie The Dark Knight. No word on the part but my guess would be it’s probably a one-word or non speaking role but AICN actually suggest she might make a good Harley Quinn.
For those who don’t know Harley Quinn is the Joker’s female sidekick and something of a strange lover who was once the good psychiatrist Dr. Harleen Quinzel before she came under The Joker’s spell. Although she might not be as voluptuous for the part as I would have liked (Brittany Murphy anyone?) she wouldn’t be the worst looking for the role and at 26 is the perfect age.
I doubt she will be Quinn though, at least not in the Harley Quinn variety. She might just be her before she turns evil kind of thing.
I guess we’ll see soon enough but her even being in the movie must be taken as rumor at this point, although you have to wonder whether someone would make-up this story. It’s hardly one that will sell any papers.

I am not really sure if The Dark Knight really needs Harley. I think the Joker works best on his own and with most likely Scarecrow and Two Face likely to pop up I would prefer no Harley at this point. If there is a follow movie maybe she could be in it, and I highly doubt its going to be some Hollyoaks cast off. Christina Ricci would be my choice (blonde of course).
The one thing that bothers me about most foreign directors being given the reigns of an American production is that they ALWAYS try to shoehorn a disproportionate number of British actors into the film.
I had problems with that Britsh guy trying to play Bodd Marconi in BB –he wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t great either. I wish Tony Scott, Nolan etc could curb their kinky need to Anglo-ize their casts. That said, I hope the Dark Knight is good.
Brits in the main are good actors nuff said, Gary Oldman was perfect as Jim Gordon I thought.
yeah, she was in the film, when it was the club scene she was the girl who asked if they could move to a quieter place to talk
