85. Ghostbusters (1984) – Ivan Reitman

Three unemployed parapsychology professors set up shop as a unique ghost removal service.

Even though I grew up in the 90’s, it’s the cinema of the 80’s that I grew up with and loved. They were the films I tended to have on home video and would watch and re-watch a thousand times.

Ghostbusters was one of those films and was probably in my top five films growing up. I love the idea of a service like Ghostbusters who have their own headquaters, fireman’s pole and awesome looking car which made such a memorable nosie when in motion.

The three leads, Harold Ramis, Dan Ayrkoyd and Bill Murray have such fantastic chemistry together. Only maybe in the Lethal Weapon partnership has such a team played off each other so well.

Bill Murray is such a delight in the role of Dr. Peter Venkman with his great deadpan performance, he makes every line in the script his own.

A fun movie, which even with the dated special effects is still great to revisit some twenty years later. It is probably the most 80’s of the 80’s films (if you know what I mean?) and there won’t be another decade quite like it.
