Ok, so one of our writers here has seen 3:10 to Yuma but sadly we have been placed with a review embargo until it’s closer to release, so we can’t really talk about. I can say that he might have thought it was really great and was something you can’t afford to miss. He might have thought it was superbly acted and with shootouts cooler than robots on robots… but ya know… who knows.

Anyway, here in the U.K the movie opens on September 14th which ironically is exactly 50 years after the Glenn Ford and Van Heflin original hit the screens in 1957, and it went on to be BAFTA-nominated.

Personally, in the ‘year of disappointment’ I’m gagging to see something of value on my screen. Transformers, Live Free or Die Hard, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Fantastic Four 2, Spider-Man 3 crap and the trend of ‘playing it safe’ is really starting to piss me off.

These summer blockbusters are getting lazy and relying on their laurels to much if you ask me. Hopefully the September to December drama/horror/Christmas season will save the year like The Departed, Blood Diamond, The Last King of Scotland, Little Children, The Prestige, Pan’s Labyrinth and Casino Royale did last year.

There’s still time to save 2007 yet!

You are right, that time period last year was a corker. There seems to be a bit of resurgence in the western market at the moment, and that could be a great thing if the quality is high. It’s looking that way for 3:10 as long as Russell Crowe isn’t just…well…Russell Crowe.

I’m looking forward to 3:10 to Yuma, and I reckon you could be right Matt. The final stretch of the year could be something to savour now that summer blockbuster-stupid season is ebbing away. Last year’s autumn saw high amounts of quality. Here’s hoping that we receive more substantial matter in the upcoming months of 2007.

3:10 to yuma was pretty good ,but got a little unreal towards the end when they were trying to get to the train..All these sharpshooter outlaws and they could hardly touch christan bale
with a missing foot…Direction could have been a little better
on that part..
