Spiderman director Sam Raimi has confirmed there will be AT LEAST a further 3 Spiderman movies.
Speaking at a press junket in Los Angeles Rami told us that Sony Pictures have plans to extend the series to six movies – possibly more. Given the current success of the movies it seem inevitable that there would be more. Coming Soon, who reported the story, claims Raimi did however make it clear he had not yet been asked to be involved in the movies.
[Raimi] doesn’t want to presume Sony would want him to direct.
Raimi went on to say that he would “find it hard to say goodbye to Spiderman“, this to me shows he still has plenty interest in keeping the chair for further next installments.
Spiderman 3 will be released on May 4th.

Ugh … Sam Raimi has sold his soul to the corporate world. The Spiderman movies need to stop here. I mean, they have THREE villains in this one. That’s enough.
I for one think that if the standard of the first two are reflected by the third then this is great news! I understand the wariness of there being 3 villains and without careful planning whatever comes next has a chance of being perceived as forced. But there are plenty more enemies of spidey to choose, and from the evidence of what has been seen so far in the series, if anyone can make it a success it’s Raimi!
Sold his soul? He loves Spider-Man. And it wasn’t HIS decision to make three more movies, plus he’s not even ATTACHED to the movies yet, so if you want to blame anybody, blame Sony.
Also, three villains really isn’t that unbelievable… there are times in the comics where Spider-Man fights SIX villains at once.
There is still so much more to go in the Spider-Man universe such as The Lizard (my personal favorite villain) or Mysterious (who Bruce Campbell could play and be awesome as).
