20th Century Fox pick up Halo

1006peter02.jpgFirst off, 20th Century Fox HAVEN’T picked up the movie rights to Microsoft’s video game series but what they have done is pick up the worldwide merchandising rights, which means they can distribute novels, toys and other collectibles for the Halo series.

Who cares right?

Well from where I’m sitting this is just another small piece of the jigsaw in the Halo movie being put back in development. When the much anticipated Halo 3 comes out in September and makes a small fortune for Microsoft (remember Halo 2 made $125 million on it’s first release day of release) interest much surely again be sparked for this movie.

Why studio’s won’t put up the money to get this made is beyond me? It’s Halo which if made by the right people (Peter Jackson was on board so that wasn’t a problem) is a huge potential money earner not just for one film, but for a whole franchise of movies.

Come October, I think we will hear some rumblings about this being put back into production. It’s too big of a potential money earner not to be.
