Because it’s such a slow news day, I thought I would upload the most recent and accurate release dates we have for next year’s movies. It’s shaping up to be another remake/sequel heavy year but there’s some really exciting projects among this bunch.

Apart from Watchmen (Here’s hopeing it’s the next “Bladerunner”) next year seems like a bit of a stinker for comicbook film fans.

Yeah. No JLA means there is no movie I’m on the edge of my seat anticipating next year. JLA would’ve made 09 kick ass.

Now I’m not sure I’ll even leave my house.

Yeah, summer 2009 isn’t that exciting to me anymore.

Hey, a few sound promising. THE WOLF MAN has Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins in the roles created by Lon Chaney Jr. and Claude Rains. ANGELS & DEMONS was a terrific book and might translate to the screen better than THE DA VINCI CODE did. PUBLIC ENEMIES with Depp and Bale sounds promising. Sccorsese/DiCaprio doing SHUTTER ISLAND based on the novel by Dennis LeHane who wrote MYSTIC RIVER and GONE BABY GONE should be a winner. And Aint It Cool News has convinced me that Zemeckis/Carrey’s MOCAP version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL is worth waiting for. And of course we’re all interested in THE WATCHMEN and AVATAR. And I’ll wait and see if a new STAR TREK will fly or not.

Next year looks relatively dead compared to this year.

Dan Brown’s box office aspirations have been killed by Nic Cage.

God knows what the REAL Indiana Jones will do to his cred!

It’s funny to see James Cameron doing a film and it isn’t Terminator 4. I will be interested to see where they go in 4 for sure.

Looks like May will be packed as usual. But 2009 being dead, by comparison to what, 2008 or 2007? May almost killed the summer season having the 3rd installment of Shrek, Spider-man and Pirates in the same month, none of which were that good. That’s saying alot coming from a movie buff like me too people! I love movies and last May stunk. I was so happy when it became June!

Frankly, aside from maybe Ironman and Indy of course, this May doesn’t look all that great, nor does most of the summer. It’s time for a downer year and this would be the one. If Indy doesn’t make at least 300 million, the summer of 2008 is in trouble! Because I really don’t think anything else this summer will.

Looking ahead to 2009, Transformers 2 will be big, I believe Star Trek (with J.J. Abram’s flare) will go over nicely. He got a bad break what with all the Tom Cruise issues on M:I III. Angels and Demons should be great! If its Pixars that is an instant 200 million. Avatar, and Prince of Persia, we’ll see.

Very curious to see what 2012 will be by Emmerich. As long as the hype doesn’t outlast the film. It did great with Independence Day, not so much with Godzilla or Day After Tomorrow.

I think the sleeper will be G.I. Joe!! I mean all my dreams come true in the same year. A new Star Trek film, Terminator film (minus Ah-nold I’m sure), Transformers 2, G.I. Joe and the A-Team in the same year!! All they would have needed was another Star Wars film, another Ghostbusters and E.T. sequel and I would be in heaven in 2009!
