The legendary Bruce Springsteen has written and recorded a song that will play during the end credits of Darren Aronofsky’s small time drama The Wrestler, starring Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei.

Aronofsky writes on his blog that the tune is a “beautiful… wonderful acoustic piece”.

“Makes me choke up every time i hear it,” Aronofsky writes on his blog. “He really captured the spirit of the film and Mickey [Rourke]’s character in the piece.”

Springsteen has already recorded two songs for film (if there is more I have forgotten about, do tell me!), both of which nearly make me choke up everytime. His wonderful song “Streets of Philadelphia” which won him a 1993 Academy Award for “Best Original Song” for Jonathan Demme’s Philadelphia.

And the amazing song “Secret Garden” for Jerry Maguire

The Wrestler which should do for the sport what Rocky did for boxing, is closing the Venice Film Festival before moving to the Toronto Festival at the end of this week. The movie is currently seeking a distributor but it’s expected to sell well and he won’t have the same kind of trouble he had with The Fountain.

Hopefully we will get a trailer soon after the movie is sold.

That’s great news, and I’m looking forward listening to that song! There’s another great Springsteen-song for a movie: “Dead Man Walking”.
