It was more than just hinted at with the final scene of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Disney smacked it right into your cranium. It was as blatant as the Joker calling card in Batman Begins.
Pirates of the Caribbean 4 will deal with Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow searching for the mythical Fountain of Youth. We’ve known it for some time, so I don’t want to see any more stories speculating on what’s gonna keep Jack Sparrow busy for his fourth adventure.
This is the final one as far as I’m concerned. Jeff Wells at Hollywood Elsewhere says
The thumbnail plot for Jerry Bruckheimer’s Pirates of the Caribbean 4, a connected friend confides, is a search by Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and other parties for the fountain of youth.
What we can discuss, speculate and dissect is a probably over-arching plot dealing with our characters searching or stumbling across of the lost city of Atlantis.
Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean 4 starring Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush (as Captain Barbosa) films next Spring for a projected 2012 release. Last we heard Chicago’s Rob Marshall had entered talks to direct.

Hmmm these got steadily worse as the series went on, a fourth in the series is not wanted… well not by me anyway.
