THE EYE trailer is the worst of the year?
The Hollywood remake of The Eye might just be in line to win my award for worst trailer of the year. The movie stars the ‘much better when she doesn’t speak’ Jessica Alba as Sydney, a young, blind violinist who is given the chance to see for the first time since childhood through a miraculous corneal transplant but kinda like The Sixth Sense, she begins to see dead people.
Sadly, there’s no cheesy voice-over guy in the trailer trying his best to make the images on screen actually look good, there’s no over-the-top text telling me the movie is SHOCKING, TERRIFYING, FRIGHTENING… etc.
There’s no dialogue… just annoying music.
Some pretty cool visuals but no substance here for me and nothing we haven’t seen before in other movies countless of times. The film comes from the duo who directed the French horror film Them (which I had the exact problems I’ve outlined above, with that movie too) and will hit theatres in February after the crew was called back for re-shoots.

I hope there’s a shower scene….just kidding.
But yea the trailer isnt the best….
To me it looks like they copied and pasted certain scenes from the original…doesnt look at all original (remakes are supposed to have SOME kind of origininality, right?) Jessica Alba is very nice looking, but I wish I could say the same for some of her acting and choice of roles….
Although, i didn’t think the music was annoying…it sounded very much like the saw music. It was catchy..and definitely got you into the mood right away. The last image of her looking through the peephole is just so lame, and i saw that guy coming for ages…so i’m guessing this movie will be PG-13 as well huh? gay…

I don’t know… the trailer is obviously going for a series of almost unconnected images to get people talking about what the hell the movie is about - it only really gives hints about the basic plot. I definitely prefer this to the usual “show the entire movie in 2 minutes” type of trailer. However, as much as I enjoyed the original, this looks to be a carbon-copy type of remake so I might not catch it at the cinema.
