CAPTAIN THADDEUS HARRIS

As Police Academy’s villain of the piece, Captain Harris was constantly the butt of most of the other officer’s jokes. Since going grey in the seventies, Bailey has pretty much been playing the same roles for the last thirty years. He will always be remembered for Captain Harris but Bailey’s resume has some quite impressive appearances besides his Police Academy role.
In the years leading up to Police Academy, Bailey appeared in numerous TV guest starring roles, most famously a recurring role as Sgt. Rizzo on M*A*S*H and a recurring role on St. Elsewhere. He went on to reprise his role as Harris in all but one of the Police Academy sequels.
Since Police Academy Bailey’s career had faltered slightly, with the exception of an appearance on Nip/Tuck and voicing an animated dog in 2004’s Home on the Range.
That all changed when he was cast as a series regular on The Closer alongside Kyra Sedgwick, where he can curently be seen as Det. Lt. Provenza.
