Greatest Movie Scenes #46 - SPARTACUS

spartacus.jpg“I’m Spartacaus!”

“No I’m Spartacus!”.

“No I’m Spartacus!!!”

It’s not that scene. Everyone knows that scene. There’s more to the film than that.

I admire this final battle sequence, especially when you consider Spartacus was made in 1960. Love the music. Love the epic feel. Love the imagery of the Roman’s looking over the dead in what is shot like a biblical moment.

This is Kubrick at his best…

  1. Great movie, Spartacus is one of my all time favourite films to watch on a Sunday afternoon.

Matt, I would like to request a film/scene. I’m pretty sure I’m the only person who loves this movie so much to rate it this high, but The Fugitive starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones, in my opinion, is one of the best thrillers of the early 90’s.

I would like to request that scene where Richard Kimble jumps off the dam into the river, or the scene where Marshal Gerard gives that awesome rapid-fire speech after the train wreck.

  2. Usually you can e-mail me with your suggestion (then it’s a surprise for everyone else ya see). lol. Nevermind.

You know it’s a great scene when as soon as you mention the film, everyone instantly knows which scene your going to mention. The Fugitive = That awesome damn scene.

Gotta love The Fugitive, the perfect example of what a thriller should be.
