Greatest Movie Scenes #16 - The Fellowship of the Ring

Posted by Matt Holmes

4401.jpgThis week’s greatest movie scene is the opening to Peter Jackson’s incredible first part of his epic Lord of the Rings trilogy. I can still remember the first time I saw this film, and this opening setup had be hooked like nothing I had seen in years. This is film making of the highest quality, an opening scene so good it embarases 99% of what most directors do with their first reels of film.

Enjoy once again the first 6 and a half minutes of The Lord of the Rings.

  1. I agree with you, Matt. Hell, I just watched it again and was transfixed. I love this opening because it is so well written, and Kate Blanchett’s narration is PERFECT. Also, I think that battle scene with Sauron’s army was the first time CGI had ever really impressed me with great, vast landscapes and action without seeming fake.
