This week’s great movie scene is the opening ten mintues to Steven Spielberg’s classic Raiders of the Lost Ark. In my opinion it is the greatest opening to any movie, with a virtually non-stop thrill ride where Indiana Jones manages to evade several death defying traps only to fall into the hands of his archaeological rival.. along with the golden idol he was searching for.
The quality isn’t great but you just have to watch this awesome scene. Raiders is truly one of the most enjoyable works of cinema that has ever been made with this scene being the standout of the whole Indy franchise.

What can you say about Raiders? One of the best directing jobs ever, by one of the greatest directors of all time. Very few lines of dialogue in this entire sequence, and yet more character is revealed here than in entire other movies. Brilliant!
