Since Mission Impossible III finished filming late last year, Tom Cruise has had no acting roles on his schedule as he has devoted his time to his soon to be wife and mother of his child Katie Holmes.
Well apparentaly he is ready to return to acting and has three projects lined up that he is interested in pursuing…..
First up is the Indie movie Lions for Lambs, a political drama focused on a group of U.S. soldiers based in Afghanistan with Robert Redford attached to direct. He is being lined up to play a journalist in the movie which is apparentaly his favourite of the three.
Next up is The Ha-Ha where he would play a mute Gulf War veteran who takes care of a 9 year old child whose mother has gone missing.
And lastly is Spike Lee’s Selling Time which is described as being “about a man who sells back chunks of time in his life for a chance to relive and change the worst day of his life”.
I love the sound of Spike Lee’s movie, I hope he choses to shoot that in the near future, I’m not too bothered about the other two which quite frankly sound like bore-fests. I think Tom Cruise is great and is one of my favourite actors of all time (if not my favourite), I hate to see the bad press he has been getting lately but he really does bring it on himself.
If I was his agent, I would seriously advise him to push Judd Apatow to direct a comedy movie together which was talked about a few months back. It would really do wonders for his career and ease him back onto the “good side” of audiences.
source – variety, coming soon

I also like Tom Cruise. I think he really gets it the worst from the paparazzi and general public. Everybody who dislikes him, acts like he’s personally affected them negatively in their life.
Anyways, yea. Spike Lee’s “Selling Time” sounds like it may be really good and it’d be interesting to see Tom Cruise starring. And the others….eh. The other two do sound boring; I think it’d be interesting to see him play a journalist, but the other movie would be bad. Even the title is ridiculous, “The Ha-Ha”. Who wants to see a movie where Tom Cruise doesn’t talk?(mute) Not me…I wanna see him talk and kick ass.
And finally…which brings me to the end of my comments here. I would LOVE to see Tom Cruise do a comedy…but it would have to be a KNOCKOUT comedy. If not a KO, Tom cruise would never be seen in the same way as before. I certainly think Tom cruise can pull of comedy though..the material just has to work for him.
Yup he sure can, people often forget that his career started in comedy movies.
Things like Risky Business, even though it’s not a great movie… he was good in it and showed impressive comedy chops for a young guy.
