Yes it’s another duo from The Departed that are set to work together again…
The Oscar winning pair of William Monahan and Martin Scorsese are set to re-team for The Long Play, a rock and roll epic “that follows two friends through 40 years in the music business, from the early days of R&B to contemporary hip-hop”.
Apparently the project was Mick Jagger’s idea with Disney originally on board until it was deemed unsuitable for their “family-film mode“.
Variety claim that this will be Monahan’s next writing assignment and although he has an outline for future Departed movies, this one it would seem, would come first.
This is now the 5th post I have made about a feature being “lined up for Scorsese to direct” but there is still no clear indication of which one he will choose.
The Long Play I’m probably the least interested in seeing him direct, so let’s hope it’s not this one and that it’s either Silence or The Last Duel he chooses!
