First up, I think I will warn you guys now. In 2 and a half weeks (April 17th) I’m taking a vacation in Florida for a week with my girlfriend, so obviously I won’t be here to keep you up to date with the latest movie news for 7 or 8 days.
I am planning on having something up at least once a day. If I get chance I will write a Top 100 entry to upload automatically all week, and maybe some features and reviews. We should be able to keep you up to date with maybe the two biggest news stories of the day.
How is this relevant, well I shall go on….
This isn’t official news or anything, but if it’s true it’s really quite sad. I’ve just checked the IMDB release dates for the upcoming Grindhouse (released in the U.S. next Friday) and it states that the Tarantino/Rodriguez project won’t hit Old Blighty till June! JUNE!!!!
A whole two months after it’s release in America! How much does that suck?
Well of course, with me being in America mid-April, I’m going to try my god damn hardest to see this thing! It’s my second most anticipated movie of the year behind Spider-Man 3, if I have to wait until June then it’s a travesty.
I think the reason it might have been pushed back here is so that Tarantino and Rodriguez can come over here and promote the flick.
I know we got Hot Fuzz early and the upcoming Sunshine MONTHS before the U.S., but aren’t you just about sick and tired of how we get treated with releases here in the U.K.? I guess it could have been worse…. non-English speaking countries are releasing Planet Terror and Death Proof as two seperate flicks!!!

…and then of course the studios will start bleating about how the movie is being downloaded and they’re losing money in countries they haven’t bothered releasing the movie in! I wish they’d realise that hype, especially on a movie this much anticipated, is global and they’d make more by capitalising on that - I’m sure there will be a backlash after a few weeks, dampening the UK opening.
Oh well, at least this means we can get the region 1 DVD fairly soon after the UK cinema release.
Yeah it’s so true. All they had to do was make sure trailers were put in front of things like 300 and Ghost Rider, and the movie would have been a ton of money.
It’s Quentin Tarantino for God’s sake! The name alone sells the film.
Your right about movie pirating also, I would be so tempted to import the movie if I knew I had to wait a whole 8 weeks before it was hitting my cinema.
Thats a shame about Grindhouse not coming out in the uk until June, Im actually in Florida right now on holiday but im not gonna be able to watch it because I leave on the day before it’s release here.
I hope the weather’s good over there Tino!
I’m hearing April is suppose to be an erratic time of year in Florida weather wise.
Wheather is great here at the moment, you have no worries Matt.
