And so it begins.
Beating Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, The Dollars Trilogy and The Matrix Trilogy (although you can pick that up on HD) as the first real “biggie” of classic trilogies on the Blu-Ray format is The Godfather.
It’s been officially announced today by a Paramount Pictures Press Release that a fully restored new version, approved by director Francis Ford Coppola himself of his 1972 classic The Godfather is on the way both as a Standard DVD release and as we’ve said, a very exciting Blu-Ray transfer. Ya’ll know I’ve just gotten back into Blu-Ray with lots more reviews to come, I seriously can’t wait to revisit this trilogy I haven’t seen in a good number of years.
Street date is September 23rd but we should have a nice review up a while before then. This is a big sign for the format and I can’t wait to see more classics make the jump.
