HOT FUZZ DVD a bigger seller than TRANSFORMERS in the U.K.

Despite sales slowing down for the rest of the world, the DVD format is still going strong in the U.K. and has even seen an increase of units sold in 2007 than the previous year. 21 million more units of DVD’s came off the shelf in the last twelve months with a significant price drop and larger sales nearing Christmas time no doubt acting as a huge catalyst for this.

45% of the top ten DVD’s bought in the U.K. were of British films, with HOT FUZZ, HARRY POTTER 5 and CASINO ROYALE shipping the most units.

Suprisingly, the years most hyped film sold pretty well but not nearly quite as well as HOT FUZZ on DVD. TRANSFORMERS came below the Edgar Wright cop comedy, though we have to remember it has been out slightly longer and has been cheaper for longer periods.

Still, if HOT FUZZ was £20 and TRANSFORMERS was £2… I still know which one I would pick.
