Fan-made NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET trailer is awesome!

Whilst the role of Freddy Krueger in Platinum Dunes’ Nightmare on Elm Street remake was still vacant, weeks before the eventual casting of Jackie Earle Haley, writer/actor/director Christopher Johnson took it upon himself to try and put his name in the frame for the part.

In what is becoming an increasingly popular phenomenon, Johnson went out with his own crew, his own time and money to put together a teaser trailer for a Nightmare on Elm Street movie which featured himself in the starring role. He is a big fan of Krueger, clearly, and probably thought it would come to nothing but he had to give it a go, right?

The result is today’s Daily Vid, a mega impressive fan made production which is probably better than 8 out of 10 studio made horror trailers we see released every year. Although bizarrely for someone trying to lobby himself for the Freddy part, he constantly shys away from showing too much of himself, which actually showcases his talents as a film-maker in better light, because it’s damn effective.

Great job… and it may not have won you Freddy but it might win you something else down the road. Regardless, it’s a fantastic piece of work.

Damn it that’s impressive. I love that Freddy on fire image- how fucking iconic that could have become.

Pretty cool vid!

I love the Nightmare series. My favourite: Part four (wtih the best song ever used for a film – “Anything, anything” by Dramarama – YouTube it!).

So, its cool that we will get a new film…lets see which Nightmare they will follow – the dark and mean first one – or the funny and bloody ones (Part 3 to 6).

Its IMHO the greatest 80s rock song ever written for a mainstream slasher.

it was a pretty impressive trailer but Freddy on fire looked pretty cheesy. it might be cool for a moment, but when hes always on fire, it just looks kinda corny. but the way everything looked was spot on

Yea i agree. The on fire thing is kind of corny. Freddy did not look scary to me at all but something out of a sci fi channel premiere. This guy has some money though. I takes some cheddar to put this all together. This guys dad must be some big wig at a studio. Gave him a camera to keep him busy.

I am not sure if anyone cares – but Ive found a BRILLIANT cello version of “Anything, anything” – the titlesong for Nightmare 4. Check it out:
