Obsessed With Film

Today is Free Comic Book Day - a day designed to catch new readers who wouldn’t dream of going into a comic book store and actually paying the continuing high prices for a monthly book but wouldn’t mind picking up something for free.

In the past my local Forbidden Planet and it’s neighbouring Travelling Man in Newcastle City Centre usually are sold out of all the good stuff pretty early on in the day, so my one advice is to get their early.

Thankfully this year there’s some good comics to pickup. There’s the first issue of All Star Superman (the best Supes series I’ve read in ages) and Project Superheroes featuring the gorgeous artwork of Alex Ross.

In honor of free comic book day, the DV (Daily Vid) for today is an extremely well written, acted and directed short by Tyler Zink - a comic book enthusiast who made this for entry into the Diamond Free Comic Book Day 2008 Mini-commercial contest.
