EXCLUSIVE COMPETITION: AMERICAN GANGSTER EXTENDED DVD
AMERICAN GANGSTER was one of my absolute favourite movies of 2007, a return to form for the legendary Ridley Scott and a grossly under-rated performance from Denzel Washington which I can’t believe wasn’t nominated for an Oscar.
You can read my original review of the film HERE.
We have a pretty cool competition for all our Obsessed With Film readers today. If you were unfortunate enough to miss the movie during it’s theatrical run then you simply have to enter this and I know if you saw the movie, you will be desperate to get your hands on this baby…
We are giving away FIVE COPIES of the extended DVD edition of AMERICAN GANGSTER, featuring both the original theatrical cut and a 19 minute extended edition with an audio commentary from director Ridley Scott and writer Steve Zaillian.

Why give Denzel an Oscar, or Ridley Scott? It’s all about DiaBLOW Cody and Juno!
We need more teen dramey’s and less hardcore drama.
Comment by JaySmack | February 12, 2008
Juno also got an Oscar nod while Zodiac and Michael Clayton are ignored.
You know, I gotta wonder if DiaBLOW Cody was giving out “favors” in order to get this kind of completely undeserved and unwarranted consideration.
Juno sucked ass. I won’t say what Cody sucked.
Comment by JaySmack | February 12, 2008
Wow. The person who posted the 2nd comment is very immature and it of course isn’t the real JaySmack. Juno was a very well done movie with great writing and way to be mature with your comment on Cody in the end. Grow up.

“Max” needs to get a life, better yet a job, he can be the first in his family to do so.
And, for the edification of the ignorant, there’s only ONE JaySmack.
Whining and complaining about other people’s posts, especially when they aren’t abouy you, is not only immature, it’s stupid.
My observations about Juno and DiaBLOW are my own. Nobody asked your opinion-or gives a damn. You want to suck up to DiaBLOW at least do it on HER website and don’t do it here. It may make you feel closer to your imaginary girlfriend by “defending” her “honor,” even when she’s not around to see your selfless @$$-kissing, but it’s not cute, it’s pathetic.
A slew of truly great films are being overlooked while a teen pregnancy schlock-fest is being treated like Citizen Kane. And if you really can’t believe I called her a slut, even if only through inference, then please keep reading–you can see me do it again!
Juno was neither well-made nor well-acted. It was this year’s Big Fat Greek Wedding. It doesn’t deserve to win ANY award, other than a RASPBERRY. And if you’re too dense to see what everyone else can clearly see– that the only ones making her out to be some great talent are the critics who are only going ga-ga over her beacuse of her stripper-past– then you need to get in the real world.
Now, stop pretending DiaBLOW is having some online “relationship” with you and go mind your own business.
Nuff said.

K well JaySmack your a very weird person. If your saying theres only one JaySmack then why would you have 2 completely different opinions in your first 2 comments. By the way, If you don’t like Citizen Kane then you really have issues.

Max, where did I say I didn’t like Citizen Kane? Did you even READ my post? I said, DiaBLOW’s “schlock-fest is being treated like Citizen Kane.” Kane, –and I’m sure you haven’t seen it– is a GREAT movie. Juno –which I’m sure you have seen, SEVERAL times– is not.
Juno is like a dancing bear- though I suspect the analogy is probably lost on you. Nobody expected to see a stripper write a good movie, they simply wanted to see if she could write at all.
And my first post was sarcasm BTW. Everyone got it but you. My second post was simply airing my ire at the fact that a sh*tty, two-bit indie-flick, a flick that made NO money and got NO audience attention, is even getting talked about–worse it’s being endlessly praised while the bumper crop of exceptional films we’ve been lucky to have this Oscar-season is totally overlooked.
Not that you noticed, but we’ve had some TRULY great stuff this year, films that we’ll be talking about years from now. It reminds me of the 70’s movies by Lumet and Milos Forman, Bogdanova et al.
But hey, who needs incredible dramas and character pieces, what we REALLY need is another teen pregnancy comedy. THAT’S great filmamking! (That’s more sarcasm, in case you missed that one too)
Critics/Pundits love pimping crappy films because they get to pretend that mainstream audiences are too dumb to appreciate them. What say you join the rest of us and stop pretending pure sh*t is solid gold.

Hey Jaysmack, you do realize that Juno has sold huge numbers and great reviews don;t you?
Comment by Owned & a sprinkle of pwn | February 14, 2008
Owned (stupid name BTW) read last post, then read again. Please STFU. Thank you.
Comment by JaySmack | February 14, 2008
JaySmack your such an ignorant piece of shit, fuck you. Owned fucking Owned you.
Comment by Max | February 15, 2008
Max, your village just called, they want their idiot back. So go home already, you clown!
Comment by JaySmack | February 15, 2008
Hey I’m JaySmack I’m a fucking douchebag and I haven’t got any ass in ages. I make fun of writers in immature ways and have no friends. I spend all of my time arguing with teenagers on a movie site. Sucks to be me. Oh yeah I’m a car salesman too. I also suck Diane Keatons balls all day. REALLY SUCKS TO BE ME!
