Sadly it’s not Carla Gugino who I was sure Frank Miller would cast in this thing but I guess she is busy with WATCHMEN right now.
IESB report that Jaime King will be joining Scarlett Johansson (as Silken Floss), Eva Mendes (Sand Saref) and Sarah Paulson (Dr. Ellen Dolan) for the female portion of Frank Miller’s THE SPIRIT. It’s not known at this time what character she will be playing as the above three have taken up the female roles we expected in the film, but I guess you had to know that Miller was going to try and get some more hotties in their if he could.
In the midst of all these hot ladies will be Gabriel Macht as THE SPIRIT, the masked crime fighting hero who fakes his own death so he can fight crime from the shadows of Central City. In this movie he will be trying to take down The Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson), who is hell bent on wiping out the entire city.
Really, really, really looking forward to this. Miller has cast interesting actors from top to bottom, and he’s been building towards this for a number of years now. THE SPIRIT should feel fresh, it should feel original but with that mark of quality that comes with Miller’s name.

So far Millre has had very tlaented people directing (or in the case of Rodriguez, looking over his shoulder as he “directs”) so I’m not entirely sure this won’t the way of some twisted vanity project.
David Goyer was a damned good writer too who came from comics and look how his directing turned out.
That said, if Frank is smart enough to know how to work the period-piece elements of this as well as the action-adventure stuff then this should be pretty entertaining.
