The above t-shirt was given out to attendees at the San Diego Comic Con according to Deadline Hollywood Daily, and splashed on it appears to be our first look at the design of Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch.

The movie once described as “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns” is a $100 million, all female, set in the 1960’s, R-rated movie starring Emily Browning as Baby Doll, a chick confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days.

Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, Jamie Cheung and Abbie Cornish play her innmates who also travel into the alternative world. Sucker Punch has the release date of March 25th 2011 at Warner Bros.

Watchmen, officially the most commented film on Obsessed With Film in 2009 (yes, it beats out comments on Star Trek and the upcoming Batman 3) is released today in the U.K. on Blu-Ray and DVD.

To celebrate the release, OWF's Martyn Conterio spoke to Dave Gibbons, the co-creator of the Watchmen 12 issue mini-series, and the man responsible for fleshing out Alan Moore's writings with groundbreaking artwork and character designs. At this point, I also want to mention Gibbons' book Watching the Watchmen which I can't recommend highly enough.

Did you ever think Watchmen would ever become a landmark graphic novel?
No, I don’t think we ever thought that. We set out to do the type of comic book we wanted to read. By the time we worked on it, Alan Moore and I had worked on some shorter pieces and we were just happy to have the chance to do something big and substantial. What I remember was the fun we had doing it. There was very little interference from DC Comics and we certainly didn’t approach it with a sense of ‘this is going to be a significant comic’. If we’d approached it like that we’d have never been able to do ...

Back in March of last year news came through the grapevine that David Fincher was going to team up with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman to produce an animated feature based on 70s fantasy/erotica magazine Heavy Metal. At the time there was a fair amount of speculation as to which directors would be invited along to helm each of the film’s segments, with some hints that big names might be interested in contributing for what would be a relatively short gig.

According to an interview with Eastman published over at Film School Rejects, they have secured some of the names he must have been hinting it. We now know the line-up will include the likes of James Cameron, Zack Snyder and Gore Verbinski, in addition to Fincher himself with more to come. Extremely heavy metal indeed.

Heavy Metal was around well before my time, so I mainly know of it through its reputation, but a magazine which offered graphic sex and violence, a comic book adaptation of Paradise Lost and interviews with Roger Corman and Federico Fellini is clearly a force to be reckoned with. Add the visionary talents of people such as Cameron and Fincher to the equation and it ...

Zack Snyder's original cast for his $100 million, all female, set in the 1960’s, R-rated, “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns” film Sucker Punch are quickly being dismembered, and it's beginning to look like the girls he is going to work with are going to be the B-team.

Last month we reported that lead Amanda Seyfried couldn't get out of her deal on the t.v. show Big Love to star in the picture as Baby Doll, a girl confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. She was quickly replaced by Emily Browning, a disappointing choice I hate to say it after I saw the stilted performance she gave in The Uninvited recently.

The Hollywood Reporter say the same kind of "scheduling conflicts" have forced Emma Stone and Evan Rachel Wood to drop out too, as some of the inmates in Baby Doll's mental insitution. Their replacements are lesser known actresses', who may come in for less money which might be good news for Warner Bros. who could be nervous about the potential of this film after Snyder's Watchmen didn't hit the figure they wanted.

Stone's replacement is Jamie Chung who played Chi Chi in Dragonball Evolution ...

Entertainment Weekly report that Mamma Mia actress Amanda Seyfried has had to drop out due to scheduling. HBO won't free her from her Big Love commitment in the fall, where filming on Season 4 would clash with the Warner Bros. production.

Snyder will have to look elsewhere for his Baby Doll, the lead confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days.

Wow, it's weird that WATCHMEN is this juggernaut of a film release.

Only four years ago, around the time of the BATMAN BEGINS release, barely anyone I spoke to knew of Alan Moore's great graphic novel and any attempt to try and get them to read it was quickly dismissed with a "comics are for girls". Well, box office receipts will show there are many girls who watch movies this weekend.

Just weird. And it's so right that so many people are intrigued by the yellow imagery and are seeing the movie this weekend but know absolutely nothing about what it is they will see.

Ah the time for talk is done. The movie is out NOW and I wanna hear your feedback. (and it's the hottest ticket in town, today's showings are all but sold out in multiple cinema's in my area).

If you see the movie, YOU HAVE TO LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK HERE (spoilers allowed). SERIOUSLY, COMMENT IF YOU HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE, IT'S THE ONLY WAY THIS KIND OF POST WILL WORK.

Did Zack Snyder knock it out of the park. Is this the WATCHMEN we deserve after two decades of waiting?

Do let us know.

WATCHMEN director Zack Snyder's next movie SUCKER PUNCH will be an all female cast and if talks go well, the $100 million budgeted set in the 1960's "Alice in Wonderland with machine guns" flick will star...

Amanda Seyfried (from MAMMA MIA) playing Baby Doll, confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days.

While imprisoned, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain. In this fantasy world, where she needs to steal five objects to help her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.

Playing her fellow inmates who follow her into this fantasy world are...

Vanessa Hudgens (HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL) as Blondie.

Abbie Cornish (A GOOD YEAR) as Sweat Pea.

Evan Rachel Wood (THE WRESTLER) as Rocket.

Emma Stone (SUPERBAD), whose name is not yet known.

Principal photography begins in the fall and Warner Bros. have announced the film will be out October 8th 2010.

A $100 million all female cast?!?!

Snyder may just be my personal hero. He isn't afraid by the challenge of chopping down big trees. I mean he remade DAWN OF THE DEAD, he made movies out of the classics 300 and WATCHMEN.

He wants to make THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS and now he's doing ...

Ah, it's that time of year again. The cold snows of Winter are about to thaw, new leaves begin to bud on the trees and the stream of Oscar films are making way for the torrent of big budget blockbusters. First on the list is the heavily-hyped and long-awaited adaptation of the Watchmen graphic novel. A complicated and detailed tale of an alternate history in which superheroes were embraced as bringers of justice, only to gradually become marginalised as dangerous and unregulated menaces to society. Interweaving the story of two generations, the story is an expansive discussion of power and justice that draws in detail on the lives of 8 (yes, eight) heroes.

However, amid the accusations that WATCHMEN will be confusing and complicated, it is worth remembering that the director is Zack Snyder: the man who implified and stylised 300 SPARTANS in to 300, and took the politicized zombie world George Romero and made the glossy 2004 version of DAWN OF THE DEAD.

His work on WATCHMEN is no different. The story is broken down admirably well, and told in a series of sequences that are absorbing, exciting and, perhaps best of all, manageable. Sure it's a plot with several big ...

Zack Snyder's WATCHMEN premiered in London last night with the majority of the cast in attendance, and OWF reader Jezza, who was less than impressed by the Warner Bros. spectacle...
Attended premier last night in the first 10 minutes thought “here we go” however the rapidly chaged to when can i leave. No strong performances and a story line which left me baffled and bored i,m afraid. Gutted as was really looking forward to this adaption of the novel, glad i was not alone in the stampede for the exits as the credits came up. If you really have nothing to do for 3 hours of your life go for it otherwise avoid at all costs, or at best wait untill it,s on DVD and only then when its reduced to a pound in Blockbuster.
Which is a pretty consistent review compared to the other early feedback we recieved towards the end of last week.

WATCHMEN opens in the U.K. and U.S. on March 6th and has probably had more negative reviews already than THE DARK KNIGHT had when every press outlet in town had given their two cents.

Early WATCHMEN reviews are coming in and from the sounds of things they are falling slightly more on the negative than the positive side.

On the plus side, the word is the movie is extremely faithful to the Alan Moore graphic novel which is great to hear after what happened with FROM HELL and THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN.

On the negative side, it's said Zack Snyder forgot he was making a movie and not just images from the graphic novel looking pretty on screen.

Hollywood Elsewhere got this in from an annymous reviewer...
“Speaking as a huge admirer and devotee of the graphic novel, the film is a staggering failure. On the plus side, you’ve got a pretty literal adaptation of the source material. It is at times a meticulous and gorgeous recreation of Alan Moore’s original work. Unfortunately it’s an empty, inert, meandering and, yes, boring 2 hours and 45 minutes. Oh, and it’s horribly acted throughout.” … “Watchmen is just not much of a movie. It has no narrative pull and no characters to in. It uses rotely shoehorned-in action scenes, and has a sheen that doesn’t befit the dark material.”
And on the same site, another reviewer, who liked the opening credits but...

Collider have learnt the three different running times for WATCHMEN...

The theatrical cut we will see in just a matter of weeks will be 156 minutes long, just over 2 hours and a half in length.

The director's cut, which will be found on the Blu-Ray and DVD release of the film will clock in at 156 minutes.

The director's cut, which if you include the TALES OF THE BLACK FREIGHTER release (the animated short starring Gerard Butler which tells the famous side story in the graphic novel) will make the movie a massive 205 minutes long.

An epic LORD OF THE RINGS style picture. Can't wait to see it.

In the U.K, this DVD set will be released on April 9th, just as WATCHMEN is starting to leave theatres. Remember, it will have the full story of the TALES FROM THE BLACK FREIGHTER which is not included in the theatrical release of the film...
Priced at £9.99 RRP on DVD and £14.99 RRP on Blu-ray Disc, both sets include the main feature (25mins) and special features (84mins). The DVD is presented in anamorphic widescreen with English DD5.1 Surround audio, while the Blu-ray is 1080P with English 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio. Extras include:

I'm in love with this trailer, I have feelings for it that I never thought were possible for 2 minutes of film tease.

Castro, JFK, Nixon, that sadistic war room. Wow, how much more epic does WATCHMEN feel with all that now?

It would be a travesty if we don't get to see this movie in 2009. I could live with a delay for a few months but man, I want to see this movie by the end of this decade. Hopefully March 9th, let's pray for March 9th. Delaying WATCHMEN would be like delaying Christmas.

And you know the best thing about what Zack Snyder has created here? It feels EXACTLY like the Alan Moore graphic novel. It moves the same, carries the same atmosphere and although there is obvious changes, the overall package looks to stick closely to Moore's vision. Oh, why didn't Snyder direct THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN and FROM HELL too?
And this week he has spoken to IFMAGAZINE about directing THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS. You know, one day, I would love to see it...

“I’m interested in Frank Miller’s [graphic novel] THE DARK KNIGHT [RETURNS]. That’s really my favorite comic book. However, the studio has this massive franchise and ...

Matt here... apologies I was suppose to post this as it went live last night (or early morning in the U.K.) but I just got caught up watching HANCOCK on Blu-Ray, I was trying to do the P.R. guys a favour and get it reviewed before it hits stands on Monday.

Still a rubbish film. Gorgeous 1080p a good movie does not make.

So big thanks to Ray who got this posted for me... what a trailer guys. This is WATCHMEN.

The third long trailer for Zack Snyder's WATCHMEN debuted tonight. Brilliantly edited like the previous ones, this new trailer gives us extended moments that display the film's rich palette, gorgeous colors, and striking visuals.

Although largely filmed on greenscreen, this film looks to change the rules established by early pioneer greenscreen films like SIN CITY and 300. While WATCHMEN obviously has some whiz-bang visual moments like those previous films, Snyder is apparently trying to create an all-encompassing world that more closely mimics our own.

The trailer is fabulous. Check out the version below, or head over to Yahoo for the high definition version.

The last 48 hours has seen more WATCHMEN goodness released across the web and also some details of when we can see the next trailer for Zack Snyder's much anticipated film.

First though, Warner Bros. have released a video profiling the "Watchwomen", specifically the characters of Silk Spectre (Malin Akerman) and her mother (Carla Gugino) and more behind-the-scenes exclusives. I love the imagery, I think Zack Snyder has done a wonderful job with the set design and if he can keep his hands off the slow-mo trigger for most of the movie then this could be about as perfect a WATCHMEN movie as we could have hoped.

Doesn't it just look gorgeous?

Watchmen Exclusive: Girls Kick Ass
Snyder tells Dark Horizons today that we can expect a new trailer next week attached to U.S. prints of QUANTUM OF SOLACE...
"I just saw the final version of it this morning... it's a little bit more story, a teeny bit more like a full trailer. This is much more like 'someone's picking off costume heroes'. You'll get a sense of the characters plight you know, 'we were supposed to make the world a better place... what happened to the American Dream'."
He confirms a third trailer for next ...

If your still not craving like a diabetic for more sugary WATCHMEN goodness after viewing that awesome second trailer for next year's biggest comic book movie, then I truly don't know what will get you excited for Zack Snyder's adaptation of Alan Moore's "CITIZEN KANE" of graphic novels.

Actually, that's a lie. I do. I know exactly what will do it. Yahoo Movies have gotten their hands on a fantastic new poster which re-creates a famous moment from the opening scene of the film and is briefly referenced in the final shot of the trailer...

No-one can resist the beauty of this imagery...

A friend of mine remarked today that WATCHMEN is going to be 10 hours long and in three parts because they think Snyder hasn't been able to resist using his slow motion camera as shown in the trailer and in segments of 300 for the majority of the film.

I laughed... just like I laughed when someone told me last year that THE DARK KNIGHT had too many villains. These guys know what they are doing... this movie is going to frikkin' rule.

Also, the teaser poster reveals the movie will be R-Rated for "graphic violence, sexuality, nudity and language". We will ...

Zack Snyder sure knows how to cut one hell of a trailer.

Premiering during the Spike TV 2008 Awards last night was this brand new trailer for next year's WATCHMEN which pieces together a ton of new footage and shots with the already existing trailer we saw during the Comic-Con.

It is quite simply stunning.

Snyder seems more confident with this second trailer, more sure of himself and in blending these iconic images and characters together.
WATCHMEN opens in March, could the greatest comic book story ever told change the way we see the medium on our screens forever?

To get this close, after decades of trying to get Watchmen to the big screen for it then to be pulled from under our rug, well it would be tragic.

The film is currently finishing it's post-production stages over at Warner Bros. but director Zack Snyder has had to look over his shoulder for the past year as 20th Century Fox have been hell bent on blocking the film's March 2009 release.

And as news of each court hearing passes, Fox seem to have a very legit case against WB and although it would take an extremely brave judge to block it's theatrical release indefinitely, a short delay until all the hearings have been concluded should not be ruled out.

In a recent New York Times article, a court injunction for June looks possible, some three months after it's projected March date. If that is too go ahead, it would seem unlikely that WB will release what could be an illegal film and instead of moving it to a packed July or a weaker August/September date... it would probably move to 2010.

This Watchmen thing won't go away and I can tell you for a fact that WB are taking this very seriously indeed.
This ...

Writer/director/actor and all round comic book geek Kevin Smith says he is fortunate enough to be one of the few to have seen a rough but feature length screening of Zack Snyder's Watchmen and was all praise, comparing it to be as closely related to the comic book as Sin City.

“I saw Watchmen. It’s fucking astounding. The Non-Disclosure Agreement I signed prevents me from saying much, but I can spout the following with complete joygasmic enthusiasm: Snyder and Co. have pulled it off. Remember that feeling of watching Sin City on the big screen and being blown away by what a faithful translation of the source material it was, in terms of both content and visuals? Triple that, and you’ll come close to watching Watchmen. Even Alan Moore might be surprised at how close the movie is to the book. March can’t come soon enough.”
That statement certainly gives us that little push for extra hope. I know a lot of you loved the first trailer we saw a good number of weeks back but I wasn't completely blown away by it... probably putting the graphic novel on such a pedestal that this film adaptation could never compete.

But if there was ...
