The last time we did this, we got a pretty for what our audience thought of Watchmen, so as this is the biggest geek release since that movie, I'm here once again to ask what you thought of Hollywood's latest offering for our tentpole tastebuds.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the fourth in the X-Men saga, which of course became subject of much conterversary when a workprint was leaked online some weeks back, and whose damage to it's financial takings we should see in full effect in about 24 hours. From what I've read, the workprint that was leaked is almost identical to the movie that is now playing in theatres, with just the added special effects now in place.

I have now seen the movie, and I completely hate virtually every single frame of it. Wolverine is a complete mess from start to finish, a completely misguided film that shows that got everything from the casting, to the hiring of the writers and directors, to the whole idea of where this prequel should have gone, completely wrong.

Even Hugh Jackman puts in one of his worst performances and looks so uncomfortable playing this character in this outing, when you would think by now he ...

I haven't been this disappointed by a film since the new Indiana Jones, and my disappointment provoked so much fury then that I'm a little bit nervous about venting my frustration about X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Nonetheless, so lame was this woeful attempt to milk a franchise that I can't contain myself: so here goes...

Wasn't Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) supposed to be a short, gruff, angry, violent killer who goes psycho a lot and stabs people? I know he's a good guy, and his character is a bit deeper than just that, but I'm sure he was once a soldier who revelled in his talent at slaughter? Nobody seems to have told director Gavin Hood and credited writer David Benioff. Between them they seem to think that he's a big handsome fella, who's loving, jovial and very very vulnerable. Plus he walks around topless a lot. I mean A LOT. And when the lust for vengeance pulses through his veins, he seems to calm down and act normally again pretty fucking quickly.

Rather than explain how Wolverine became who he is in the original trilogy, XMO just reduces everything to a single story of deceit centring on the evil plans of Colonel Striker (Danny ...

20th Century Fox have released a special effects filled final trailer for X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, which really looks to be the case of throwing all they have in one desperate last attempt to peak audience interest.

It looks a lot like X-MEN 3: THE LAST STAND, a movie I actually didn't hate. It wasn't up to the previous two movies but with Brett Ratner behind the helm, it was WAY better than what I was expecting. You know, it was kinda fun... in a mindless, eye candy sort of way.

Anyway here's the final trailer for WOLVERINE'S solo prequel (I say solo, but this ain't have packed with other mutants)...

And USA Today also carry several character posters from the movie...

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE opens May 1st.

Liev Schreiber, the talented and charismatic actor who burst onto the scene in Wes Craven's Scream trilogy in the mid 90's and would put in fabulous high quality work in Hollywood movies The Sum of All Fears, The Manchurian Candidate and in so many indie films has sadly started taking the paycheck role.

It happened recently with the awful remake of The Omen which I can't believe he went into without knowing that the script was sub-par and his character so absent of any weight or interest. And of course it's happened again with him UNBELIEVABLY taking on the role of Sabertooth in the X-Men prequel... a part you may remember was played by a wrestler in the first movie, the same guy who lumbered around with the Shatner mask in the new Halloween redo.

Here's some set pics of Schreiber from the set of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, who looks bigger physically than he ever has before (notice the claws). I still can't believe he is doing such a dumb role. AND HE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE SABERTOOTH.

And an image of a smiling Hugh Jackman too...

Lots, lots, lots more images at Just Jared.

I have zero hope for this film.

The latest issue of Empire Magazine have more superhero photo exclusives. This time for two of the biggest Marvel properties set to hit our screens in the next 18 months or so.

First we have Edward Norton getting angry. And you won't like him when he's - ah you know...

It's images like that which make you really question whether he was the right man for the role. Looks really skinny.

I mean I like Ed Norton as much as the next guy, and he's a fantastic actor and everything but man there's something about him in this role that doesn't quite wash isn't there? Eric Bana was 10 times more suited to the role, even if Norton is the better actor.

Next it's William Hurt as General "Thunderbolt" Ross. Yeah that's really William Hurt. I can't decide whether he looks awesome or just plain weird. I'm really surprised they just didn't make the character bald, or hey maybe if they just re-cast Sam Elliott everything would have been fine (again I like William Hurt more than Elliott, but not in this role)...

And then Hugh Jackman from the new X-MEN prequel. And boy after four movies they have completely ran out of ideas on ...

FilmSchoolRejects claim that Kevin Durand has been cast as The Blob in the currently filming X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE and will begin shooting his scenes for the movie next week in Canada.

Durand was the guy who went one to far in pissing off Russell Crowe's outlaw Ben Wade in 3:10 TO YUMA and was one of The Tremor Brothers in SMOKIN' ACES.

Interestingly Gavin Hood and the rest of the crew are out in New Zealand/Australia filming right now, so presumably it means that either Durand will be green screened and digitally inserted into the film with the rest of the actors or the rest of the crew are flying halfway across the world next week - moving production to Canada.

A CGI Blob? Could they have not just cast a big rotund actor/wrestler?

Also over the weekend there seems to be some confusion of which character Dominic Monaghan will play in the movie. We previously heard that he was to Barnell Bohusk, a.k.a. Beak - but in the trades write up of the story they claim he will play a character linked to "Wolverine's past who has the ability to manipulate energy and electricity". Bizarrely though, they also call this character Barnell.

Now Beak ...

Another day, another casting for the WOLVERINE prequel.

Daniel Henney, an American expatriate actor from South Korea has been cast as Agent Zero - according to Variety. Agent Zero (real name David North and originally known as Maverick) is a member of the Weapon X program and an expert tracker with lethal marksman skills.

He was created by Jim Lee in 1992 and is the 77th (give or take a mutant) supporting character in Gavin Hood's (RENDITION) new movie.

But it's not going to be Michelle Monaghan who was offered the part of Silver Fox but had to turn it down when the schedule on the D.J. Caruso thriller EAGLE EYE started to over-run. We heard on Saturday that part was eventually won by unknown actress Lynn Collins.

But we shall still see a Monaghan in the credits sequence of the film. 31 year old Scottish actor best known for his parts in THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy and on the hit t.v. show Lost, will fill the role of Blackwing, a B-character from the Marvel universe. Maybe they should start calling this movie WOLVERINE AND FRIENDS...

Blackwing, originally known as Beak - is a Dutch born hero whose body changed when he hit puberty into that of a humanoid-bired like form - with a beak, talons for hands and the ability to fly. He shares a similar skeletal figure as of Angel (who Ben Foster played for about 5 mins in X-MEN 3) and much like the rest of the X-MEN, he ran away from home because he was disgusted and ashamed of his appearance.

The character was created by Grant Morrison and first appeared in New X-Men #117.

Gambit, the biggest X-MEN character yet to be introduced on film has finally been cast.

IESB have it on good authority that Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights) will play Remy LeBeau in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, the first of three movies he will play the character.

I know nothing about the actor here but all I'm going to say is that I'm not impressed. Gambit has always been one of my three favourite characters in the X-MEN universe along with Wolverine and Cyclops. Now, they've already made an absolute mess of Cyclops, with an underwritten and whiny character for James Marsden - who would have made a good Cyclops if they had given him the right material. PLEASE FOR GOD'S SAKE, DON'T MESS UP GAMBIT!

And why is this guy in Wolverine's origin story? Wouldn't it have been better to introduce him in X-MEN 4 - couldn't you have just put another X-MEN character in this one? Something we don't care as much about?

I was praying Josh Holloway would get the part. I mean hell, he plays Gambit on Lost week in and week out, and if your gonna introduce him in WOLVERINE then you need an actor of stature who can match Hugh ...

Third time's a charm for X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE.

JoBlo have learned that 30 DAYS OF NIGHT actor Danny Huston has been cast as Stryker in the currently filming Hugh Jackman-led prequel to the X-MEN series. We've previously heard the names of Liev Schreiber (he is actually playing Sabertooth) and Michael C. Hall but it looks like Huston is the man, I really like this casting...

Look at that image above. Huston is THE MAN for this role. He's got that slimy, sneaky side to him even when he is trying to smile. He has that Brian Cox villainy about him. They could have not picked anyone else that was more right for the role, barring sending Brian Cox back in a time machine.

So who is playing Silver Fox? Apparently it's not going to be Maggie Q and Michelle Monaghan who were both offered the part.

Instead it's going to be Lynn Collins, 27 year old Texan born actress who is most memorable to me as being that suicide blonde victim in THE NUMBER 23, a movie that Huston was also great in. She also had small roles in THE LAKE HOUSE, THE MERCHANT OF VENICE and 50 FIRST DATES. Without doubt, this ...

So which element is more fake from the first promotional image sent out for X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE?

Is it the photo-shopped claws, or the muscles on Hugh Jackman?

And weren't they making a MAGNETO movie too. What happened with that anyway?

Man I hope they've done a complete overhaul on the script that I read for this thing, otherwise we are in for a massive crap-fest of an X-MEN movie. If you thought the last X-MEN movie sucked, oh boy... wait until you see how this one turns out.

Cast is expected to turn out something like this. Hugh Jackman (WOLVERINE), Michael C. Hall (STRYKER), Liev Schreiber (SABERTOOTH), Michelle Monaghan (SILVER FOX) for RENDITION director Gavin Hood.

Movie opens next May and is filming right now!
