If you were the 4 day old wife to Vince Vaughn, would you not even be a tad concerned that once again, for the 100th time - your new husband is making a movie about a guy who is wrestling with the moral issues surrounding infidelity?

It's a subject that is explicitly close to Vaughn's heart, he's kind of obsessed with it.

Imagine Entertainment topper Brian Grazer came up with the idea say Variety about “a man who learns that his best friend’s wife is cheating and must then navigate treacherous waters to decide what do with that knowledge" which he pitched to Universal who quickly got Allan Loeb (21, Things We Lost in the Fire) to write and Ron Howard on board to direct, and naturally Vince Vaughn to star.

The movie is currently untitled and could shoot in March. We would guess the best friend will be played by none other than Jon Favreau

Together, they just made Couples Retreat, a movie about long term couples who begin to question if they are right for each other on a relationship building holiday and look for options elsewhere, is this sounding familiar to anyone?

The Break-Up, The Wedding Crashes both dealt with similar themes ...

I could watch Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn on screen bantering "guy chat" to each other all movie long, so of course I was hooked from the first moment of the trailer for Couples Retreat, a comedy that should be positioning itself as this year's Forgetting Sarah Marshall (a guy flick similarly set on a tropical island that made $104 million worldwide).

Written by Favreau but directed by his pal and usual producer Peter Billingsley (his directorial debut), the movie follows four couples of friends who visit an island paradise in order to sort out their troublesome relationships with one an other. It's almost like a kind of Friends: The Movie and I'm certain one of the later series of that show did something like this.

Vaughns paired with Malin Ackerman,

Jon Favreau's got Sex and the City's Kristin Davis,

Jason Bateman's married to Kristen Bell,

And two actors I'm not overly aware of, Faizon Love's with Tasha Smith.

Cameo's a plenty from Jean Reno, Ken Jeong and the legend that is Peter Serafinowicz, who steals the whole trailer. Hopefully he's got some great screentime.

The trailer made me laugh four separate times, so that's usually a good sign and I'm always one who can get easily drawn in by ...

Nice to see Oscar winning director James L. Brooks back in the game with a new romantic comedy after a four year break. Last week we heard rumblings from actress Reese Witherspoon that her new Cameron Crowe movie had been delayed and that she was to fill in the newly formed gap in her schedule with a rom-com from the director of TERMS OF ENDEARMENT and AS GOOD AS IT GETS.

Today Variety confirm it.

The movie has the working title HOW DO YOU KNOW? (which is expected to be changed) and is a Columbia Pictures movie that will shoot in March. Plot details are scarce but the movie is expected to have three leads, of which Reese is one. Something tells me that after her on set experience with her co-star of FOUR CHRISTMASES, that Vince Vaughn won't be the second or third lead.

Yesterday's Variety informed us that Jon Favreau, Vince Vaughn and Jason Bateman were all set to team for the comedy COUPLES RETREAT, a movie which Favreau himself wrote from an idea hatched by Vaughn and his great friend Peter Billingsley will direct.

Got all that?

Story follows four couples who go to a tropical island resort. While one couple is there to work on their marriage, the others are there to play but soon discover that participation in the resort’s couples therapy is not optional
Billingsley is an actor/producer who has worked closely with Favreau and Vaughn in the last few years... most notably appearing in IRON MAN, and also executive producing that superhero movie along with Vaughn's upcoming festive rom-com FOUR CHRISTMASES.

All four of these guys also appeared in the 2006 comedy THE BREAK-UP, which featured a stunning (and obviously helped because it was a projection of real life) friendship between Vaughn and Favreau.

Shooting should begin late October in Bora Bora and Los Angeles.

I've noticed in the last few days a heavy increase in Christmas promotion around my local high street stores. The festive season really does seem to be getting earlier every year doesn't it?

And it's the same with the film industry. The last thing I want to see in mid-September, when the weather should still officially be "ok" (it's not) is a trailer for a damn festive movie. It's just way too soon. It also doesn't help when the movie looks as lame as this..

AFTER FRED CLAUS, SEE THE TRAILER FOR VINCE VAUGHN'S SECOND FESTIVE DISASTER IN CONSECUTIVE YEARS!

Don't you just hate mean-spirited Christmas movies? Especially mean-spirited romantic comedy Christmas movies?

We've heard lots of rumblings about troubles on the set of FOUR CHRISTMASES between co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn and you can see they have no chemistry together. You struggle to believe they actually like each other, let alone that they are in love.

I didn't laugh once, the jokes are awkward and uncomfortable. It looks stupid and actually rather vile. There's nothing of interest here, no hook or a resemblance of a plot worthy of anyone's money, unless you think seeing Jon Favreau with a dodgy biker haircuit is interesting?

Review by Matt Holmes

[rating: 3.5]

The Break-Up is one of most uncomfortable romantic comedies I've seen in a long while. For the most part it's a deconstruction of an unhappy relationship that is sinking as quick as the Titanic after hitting that damn iceberg. It's clear from the beginning of the picture that the moment to disambark has come and the couple are genuinely at the point of no return.

Which makes it an excurringtly difficult film to watch. This is a drama that takes place some years after the end of the usual movie in the rom-com genre where things haven't quite turned out as rosy as they hoped. There's little love here, the couple aren't right for each other and the only happiness they shall both recieve at the end of the day is when they break-up.

No matter how Universal and the publicty guys try and promote this as being a red hot chemistry date movie that ...
