I would love to be able to sit here and tell you I'd reviewed Streets of Blood and had been completely blown away- that I had just watched Val Kilmer cement the comeback he playfully hinted at with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and 50 Cent notch up his breakout performance that would surely see him fully accepted as an actor in his own right.

Sadly though someone has kidnapped my postman. Seriously, I know there is talk of a strike once again over pay (try working in retail you Postman Pat fucks!) but I havent had so much as a Reader's Digest Winners Acknowledgement for two weeks. Having expected a raft of review discs in the same period, I'm more than a touch miffed at the conspicuous lack of even the lightest thud on the mat of Obsessed Towers in the morning.

So, instead I'm stuck with just advertising the releases Ive missed out on (I refuse to stream things generally), and watching some of the millions of DVDs I've bought over the past six months. Yesterday, as a link to the Val Kilmer led Streets of Blood, I watched Top Secret! (a lesser known output of the Zuckers). Needless to say, it's ...

Sometimes I pick up the Bible and read it when I'm severely troubled and anxious. For some reason, reading about God killing hundreds of thousands of people through plague, pestilence, and fiery hailstones brings me a sense of comfort and peace.

One passage that always interests me is the book of Revelation, and its terrifying depiction of the end of the world. In my imagination, I wonder what events might lead to the ride of the four horsemen, the battle of Armageddon, and the new world to come.

Certainly a MACGRUBER movie must play a part, right?

In several lifetimes, you'd be hard-pressed to uncover a sadder or more bewildering news item than the one that The Hollywood Reporter ran today, namely, that Val Kilmer and Ryan Phillippe are in talks to star in a big screen version of the Saturday Night Live short MACGRUBER. The film will hit screens next year, two years before the actual end of civilization predicted by the Mayan calendar.

Almost every single film fashioned from the huge roster of SNL skits has failed miserably. Of them all, only WAYNE'S WORLD succeeded. However, unlike WAYNE'S WORLD, MACGRUBER wasn't even a full-fledged skit. It was a minute long insert to ...

It's with great pleasure this week that I got to speak to actor Stephen Dorff (video interview coming soon!) who is currently in the U.K. promoting his STV prison movie FELON which co-stars Val Kilmer and was harshly pulled from it's theatrical release, instead going STV.

There's been hundreds of worse tripe in the cinema's this year, this movie deserved better. The movie is now available to purchase from OWF"s favourite retailer Axel Music and my review is below...

FELON is basically THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION meets FIGHT CLUB...

Wade Porter (Stephen Dorff) is a family man and successful small businessman who falls foul of legislation that says if there's an intruder in your home, you can defend yourself with anything to hand, but not if the intruder is on their way out and therefore no longer a threat. Porter makes the mistake of chasing a burglar out of his house and hitting the burglar with a baseball bat. The burglar dies and Porter has to plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter, receiving a sentence of three years in prison, but with good behaviour he'll be out in 15 months.

Readers in the UK, if you think this could never happen to you, then think again ...

An increasingly heavier Val Kilmer has joined the cast of Werner Herzog's remake but not a remake of the Harvey Keitel early 90's thriller Bad Lieutenant.

He will play partner to Nicolas Cage, a cop on the edge who is investigating the drug-related murder of five Senegalese illegal immigrants. Eva Mendes joined the cast last month.

The Hollywood Reporter also kindly tell us that rapper Xzibit who can next be seen in The X-Files: I Want to Believe, will play one of the bad guys, Big Fade.

Other castings include Brad Dourif, Jennifer Coolidge, Denzel Whitaker and more!

The movie is expected to shoot this summer and is a Nu Image/Millennium Films production.

Review by Michael Kaminski

The life of Alexander the Great is such an ambitious and complicated subject matter that it would seem nearly impossible to translate it into a motion picture; the many sides to his personality, the vast cast of characters in his life, the complex political context he existed in, the immense scale of his life, and the uncountable deeds he did, tangled in a web of ambiguities, contradicting history, controversy and necessary interpretation. But if there is one person adept at tackling ambitious subject matter, it is Oliver Stone. Particularly suited to Alexander, he was in fact intimately familiar with the subject matter, having held a life-long personal interest in Alexander the Great. He sought to bring to the screen a portrait of the man that examined his personal life, without censorship, but that was also meticulously detailed and historically accurate, and on a scale that had been seldom seen in even the ...
